Samir M. AbdulhadiCEO Orbit Group
Samir currently leads the Orbit Group as its President and Chief Executive Officer.
Samir completed his education in the United Kingdom obtaining his Masters Degree in Petrochemicals and Hydrocarbons from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.
Samir has a long and successful professional career which started back in 1977 when he joined the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). After a ten-year tenure with SABIC in senior positions at the corporate and joint-venture levels, Samir moved on to the private sector where he held the position of Managing Director at the Arabian Company for Detergents (DAC) and transformed DAC from a small detergent production company into one of the major industry players in Saudi Arabia. Later, he joined the Mawarid Group as the Managing Director of the Mawarid Food Company in 1991 and Mawarid Distribution & Trading Group in 1998.
In January 2002 he was appointed as the President & CEO of the Orbit Satellite Television and Radio Network. He also holds various board-level positions in a number of companies such as the Panther Media Group.
Michael N. JohnsonCOO Orbit Group
Michael holds several board level positions including Panther Media Group (“OSN”), Orbit Group, Mawarid Insurance Group, as well as positions on the boards of several affiliates and subsidiaries of the same. In addition to these positions, he is also a member of various Audit, Excom and Remuneration committees of these companies.
Between 1996 and 2009, Michael was a member of the board and the Executive Vice President of the Orbit Satellite Television and Radio Network, and held various executive positions over a fourteen-year period including those of CFO, head of legal and business affairs, programming, technology and operations.
Michael holds an LL.M in International Business Law from the University of Liverpool, as well as an MBA in Finance and International Business, and a BS in Accounting (Magna Cum Laude), both earned from Wayne State University, Detroit, USA. He is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Institute of Internal Auditors, Institute of Directors and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
Youssef El DeebCEO Managing Director Media Gates
Youssef grew up in Canada where he studied film directing and fine arts at Ryerson University and the University of Victoria. He is currently enrolled in the EMBA at the Berlin School of Creative Leadership.
He has had a long and successful career which began with producing and directing more than 150 television commercials. After nine years as Director of Advertising with Americana Group in Kuwait, he joined MBC as Group Head of Production and Programing and MBC 1 Channel Manager.
In 2013 he premiered his own written and directed feature film ‘Love’s Improvisation’ which was highlighted in many film festivals and won Best Actor at the London Filmmaker Festival. Wrote, directed and produced hundreds of the group’s TV commercials. Managed a multi-million dollar advertising budget. Oversaw the individual company’s advertising plans and activities. Managed group corporate communications.
Omar ShoterCEO Noorsat
Omar holds a Bachelor degree in Communications Engineering and he has over thirty-five years of experience in satellite communications.
Omar started his career in Jordan's satellite communications department in 1980 as Ground Services Maintenance Officer
He joined Intelsat (Intelsat, S.A. a communications satellite operator, originally formed as International Telecommunications Satellite Organization) in Operations & Analysis department in 1983 and stayed with the company until 1984.
In 1984 he became the first Arabsat Operation Center Manager, and worked at Arabsat as Marketing Department Manager until 1995.
During the period 1995 to 1996, he worked for INMARSAT (a British satellite telecommunications company) as the first Regional Director for the Arab World, based in London.
He then re-joined Arabsat and became Assistant Director General for Marketing & External Affairs as well as for Technical Affairs for two years.
Omar has been with Noorsat since 2004, as its first Chief Executive Officer.
David ButoracCEO OSN
An international television industry veteran, David Butorac is the Chief Executive Officer of OSN, the leading pay-TV network in the region, since 2010. Under his leadership, OSN defined its credentials as the MENA region’s fastest-growing network defined by industry-defining global partnerships for premium content and the introduction of innovative technology platforms.
David has been leading OSN’s evolution across multiple platforms including web-streaming and has been instrumental in introducing innovative initiatives including OSN Play, the region’s first digital TV platform; GO, the fastest-growing online TV service; and OSN Store, the region’s first Digital Video Store. He has led several strategic content acquisitions for OSN that has defined its place as the home to movies, series, sports, news and general entertainment.
Firming up the company’s financial fundamentals, David has been steering OSN’s expansion into high-growth markets across the MENA region. He is also at the forefront in fighting TV piracy, playing a leadership role in setting the anti-piracy coalition with industry partners.
With over 30 years of experience at some of the world's most successful broadcasting and multi-channel Television companies, David’s career to date has included the positions of Head of Operations and Station Manager at BSkyB, Group Chief Operating Officer at Astro, Malaysia's largest broadcasting and cross-media company, as well as President at the News Corporation's Star TV in Hong Kong. Prior to joining OSN, David was Managing Director of WIN Corporation, Australia's largest regional cross-media company.
David has been honoured as the ‘CEO of the Year’ at the prestigious TMT Finance MENA Conference & Awards 2015, as well as the ‘Media & Marketing Business Leader of the Year’ for the second time at the prestigious Gulf Business Industry Awards 2012 and 2015. David also received the award for Outstanding Achievement in Broadcast at the 2013 Broadcast Pro Middle East Summit. David was included in the inaugural Advance Australia list of the 100 most influential Australian's living outside Australia and has received numerous awards for OSN’s contribution to the MENA regions television industry.
Patrick TilleuxCEO OSN
Patrick Tillieux holds an MSc in Civil Engineering and an MSc in Industrial Administration from the University of Louvain (Belgium). He is currently chairman of two companies and serves on other boards, mainly in the media space, across the world.
He was previously CEO of Red Bee Media Ltd (2012-14), COO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG (2007-09) and held several positions up to CEO of SBS Broadcasting services Europe (Pay TV) (2001-07). He was CEO of CANAL+ Holland and CANAL+ Flandres (1999-2001), MD and CFO Holland Media Group (1995-98) and held various Director level positions within TF1 (1988-1994). Throughout this time, he has also consulted for leading operators, technology companies and broadcasters in various capacities.
His achievements include launching new pay TV services and repositioning existing broadcasters, negotiating access to quality content for subscribers, and growing and improving profitability of large broadcasting operations. He also has extensive experience in M&A transactions and dealing with banks and other financiers.
He started his career with the engineering firm Bouygues, where he occupied various positions, in operations and planning, including postings in Saudi Arabia and the USA.
